Read to be Elected Vice Chair of NJ Food Council

At the upcoming annual membership meeting of the New Jersey Food Council, set for Jan. 23, Jason Read, director of store operations, Region 1 – Central & North Jersey of Wawa, is to be elected as vice chair of the food retailer association’s Board of Directors.

“Jason has been an engaged and visionary board member and we are pleased that he is taking on this new leadership role with the New Jersey Food Council,” said NJFC President & CEO Linda Doherty. “Jason is an enthusiastic strategic operator and collaborator dedicated to advancing our mission and agenda.”

Read, of Westfield, joined Wawa seven years ago as director of store operations supporting more than 115 stores in Central and North Jersey and 10 area managers. Prior to Wawa, he was on the team at Starbucks Coffee Co. for 14 years in roles across all domestic business operations.

Read sits on the Board of the Wawa Foundation, the Board of Convenience Store Women and the Operators Advisory Council at Winsight Media.

The Annual Membership Meeting, to be led by NJFC Chair Andrew Kent of Glass Gardens ShopRite, is to include an introduction of new NJFC members in attendance, as well as unveil the 2024 sponsors.

The 2024 Board Officers to be re-elected along with Kent includes: Nicholas Brown of KraftHeinz, associate vice chair; Michael Rothwell of Pennington Quality Market; treasurer, and Michael Styer of Acme Markets, secretary and Linda Doherty, NJFC president & CEO.
