Onyx Equities: Gateway Buildings Have Fastest Public Access WiFi Anywhere

At the Newark Tech Week Innovation Summit this week, Onyx Equities announced that its Gateway buildings offer the fastest public access WiFi available anywhere, through its Gateway Connect WiFi.

The Gateway Connect Wi-Fi is among the first deployments of WiFi 6, the next generation of WiFi, and each access point deployed has a dedicated multi-gigabit Internet feed.

Additionally, Onyx Equities will announce Gateway One, Two, and Four, have pre-wired for Newark Fiber with a fiber-optic spinal cord now built throughout all three towers. Tenants in all three buildings can now instantly connect to Newark Fiber by GigXero, the fastest Internet in the region.

Onyx acquired three of the four Gateway Center buildings in 2018 as its entry into the Newark office market that continues to gain momentum attracting start-up and mature tech-oriented businesses.

“Newark has arrived, and Gateway Center is the place to be with faster internet access than anywhere on the East Coast including New York City,” said John Saraceno, managing principal of Onyx Equities.  “We’re creating office environments that attract young, creative talent and promote increased productivity while decreasing overhead expenses.”

“A fiber gigabit circuit would normally be priced in the $2,000-$4,000 range and above and take up to six months for connectivity but with the network already in place, we can do this for Gateway tenants at a fraction of the price within two weeks,” says Kris Pacunas, president of GigXero Inc.

Onyx Equities is hosting The Innovation Summit, the opening ceremonies for Newark Tech Week, a week-long initiative by =Space to provide all tech-based businesses in Newark with an outlet to connect and hear about innovations in the city.  Onyx’s Co-Founder and Managing Principal Jonathan Schultz will be joined by Newark’s civic and elected officials including Mayor Ras Baraka, Councilwoman LaMonica McIver, Invest Newark’s President and CEO Bernel Hall and =Space Founder Medina for activities that include announcements about internet access in Newark and a panel discussion about the evolution of technology.

Newark is one of three locations in the United States offering this type of 10 Gig connectivity. Chattanooga, Tennessee is another: Chattanooga has drawn more than $1 billion in local capital, attracted 671 new companies with 14,000 employees, lowered unemployment rates and increased real estate values.

“Newark and Invest Newark were wise to advance its future through the installation of its 10G wireless network,” continues Saraceno.  “It’s an amenity that will attract rateables through new businesses and residents, ensuring the city’s long-term economic sustainability.”
