Senior Care Excellence: Parker at Somerset

When Parker Health Group, Inc. set out to create a new facility, it aimed to make Parker at Somerset the standard of what advanced senior care will look like in New Jersey from now on. The 120-bed Parker at Somerset is set on a sprawling 14-acre campus in Franklin Township and reimagines long-term senior living, skilled nursing, and post-acute rehabilitation via the latest proven practices. Seniors enjoy spacious private suites and rehabilitate using high-tech equipment under the direction of clinical care specialists at the facility.

As opposed to traditional clinical settings typical of nursing homes, residents live in neighborhood-like settings with other residents who share similar needs and interests. Cutting-edge infection control technologies systems, such as hospital-grade negative air pressure systems, add to the site’s grand vision.

A groundbreaking for the 78,000-square-foot facility occurred in September 2019, with construction and subsequent New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) approval completed in January 2022. The new community officially opened in February 2022, employing more than 200 care partners – most of whom live in the local community – with many more job opportunities available.

The Parker at Somerset campus features a state-of-the-art Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center, as well as Parker’s unique “small home” model of skilled nursing care. In January of this year, a new Adult Day Center opened onsite. A Child Care Center offering daycare services and intergenerational programming will also open later this year.
