Medical Marvel: Leading-Edge Cancer Center at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill

Inspira Health’s cancer service’s mission since the 1970s has been to reduce the burden of cancer in the South Jersey region by providing high-quality care closer to home. That vision was realized when, in January 2020, the doors opened on a new 117,000-square-foot facility, christened the Leading-Edge Cancer Center at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill. Bringing experts and services together to provide greater Gloucester County with comprehensive oncology services, the $47.8 million project unites medical, radiation and surgical oncologists, along with a full complement of support services.

Every element of design is intended to deliver comprehensive care focused on clinical excellence and high-quality patient experiences. For example, there is a multidisciplinary care suite, where patients can see more than one physician during a single visit, and a supportive partnership with Gilda’s Club, which provides knowledge, action and support to patients and their families. There is also a pharmacy, rehabilitation program and family waiting area, including a tech bar and dining locations adjacent to the hospital. While there are ample surgical and radiology spaces with the latest technology, this facility is so much more. The design creates a home-like environment for receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as spaces where patients may seek solitude or meet with loved ones, fellow patients or supporting friends to socialize and share experiences. Creating 439 construction jobs, the new facility also brought approximately 100 new permanent jobs to the community. It also created a new place where patience and families could find a sense of hope.
