Rowan University’s recent historic $50 million pledge to significantly enhance medical and bioscience research reflects the institution’s commitment to higher education, health care and New Jersey.
Rowan has committed those funds to establish a robust research presence in the City of Camden during the next 10 years, supporting work among such partners as Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Cooper University Health Care, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, Rutgers University and others. The grant is dedicated to academic and research infrastructures and will provide seed money for research and start-up costs for teams working in such areas as cancer, biomedical engineering, neuromedicine and engineering healthy communities.
Rowan’s $50 million commitment contributes to a vibrant and well-established research community in Camden. It provides funding that will act as a catalyst to attract even more organizations, support innovation and accelerate discovery to solve health care problems. All of this is in keeping with Rowan’s role as a public research institution dedicated to conducting research that addresses real-world needs, particularly at the intersection of science, technology, engineering, medicine and business.
While maintaining its historically strong reputation for providing excellent undergraduate education, Rowan has significantly increased its graduate programs and its research presence in recent years. The University has continued to expand initiatives that foster economic development, improve health care and open the doors to more and more New Jersey residents to earn a degree.
Among other recent initiatives that highlight contributions by and activities at Rowan:
Rowan offers bachelor’s through doctoral programs to more than 18,500 students in programs business, engineering; communication and creative arts, education, humanities, social sciences, performing arts, science and mathematics, biomedical sciences, health professions and medicine.
