Celebrating its 85^th anniversary in 2017, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has been providing security, stability and peace of mind to New Jersey businesses and residents since 1932. Serving more than 3.8 million policy-holders today, Horizon BCBSNJ was founded in 1932 as one of the very first health insurance companies and Blue Cross plans in the nation.

Employing about 5,500 employees and headquartered in Newark, Horizon has offices in Wall Township, Mt. Laurel, Hopewell and West Trenton, and a Retail Center, Horizon Connect, in Moorestown.

To best serve the benefit needs of New Jersey employers, Horizon BCBSNJ now offers a bundled option that allows employers to combine their health, vision, dental and life insurance coverage needs – the Small Employer Health Plus Plan. This new benefits package became available to small employer groups from 2-50 lives beginning October 2017.

Horizon BCBSNJ is working to transform healthcare delivery in New Jersey to reward hospitals and doctors for the value of the care, not the volume of care, they provide. Horizon BCBSNJ’s patient-centered programs reward more coordinated and efficient patient care and work to improve patient satisfaction. There are now more than 4,500 primary care doctors and thousands of specialists in Horizon BCBSNJ’s patient-centered programs, including the OMNIA Health Alliance. More than 1.5 million Horizon members are benefitting from this patient-centered care.
