NJ Company Withdraws from Conference over Coronavirus Concerns

After closely monitoring the spread of the coronavirus and in reviewing travel recommendations from world health organizations, Bridgewater-based iconectiv has decided to withdraw its attendance at MWC Barcelona and all related events as it believes it is in the best interest of its employees to do so.

In an announcement, the company stated: “As the largest telecom event in the world, MWC draws more than 100,000 attendees from nearly 200 countries. The sheer size and global nature of the event makes it difficult to ensure the health and safety of our team members, which is our top priority.”

Based on a CNN news report, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, revealed today that there were 42,708 diagnosed cases of coronavirus in China, with the death toll surpassing 1,017 in the country alone.

The director-general said there had been 393 cases outside China, across 24 countries, and one death. It brings the worldwide total to 1,018 deaths and 43,101 cases, according to the WHO.
