The New Jersey Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Names Verity Frizzell 2017 President Elect

The New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA-NJ) announced that Verity L. Frizzell, AIA, of Bay Head, N.J., will serve as the organization’s 2017 president elect. Frizzell was formally inducted as president elect during AIA-NJ’s annual awards gala, which was held on Jan. 14 at the Sheraton in Mahwah, N.J.

Frizzell has held several leadership roles in the organization, including First Vice President, Second Vice President and Secretary. She also previously served as president of AIA-NJ’s Jersey Shore local section. On the AIA national level, Frizzell was as a member of the AIA Culture Collective, the AIA Strategic Planning Task Force, and the AIA National Equity in Architecture Commission.  She is currently a member of the AIA Public Outreach Committee.

“I am eager to expand my leadership role with AIA-NJ as president elect,” said Frizzell. “As architects, we strive to create sustainable, innovative projects that impact our built environment and community in a positive way. This organization allows us to build awareness of the critical role that architects play in creating safe and compelling places to live, work, and play for all of the state’s residents.”

With over 20 years of experience in the field of architecture, Frizzell is principal of Feltz & Frizzell Architects, an architecture firm based in Point Pleasant, N.J. She possesses a diverse mix of commercial and residential experience, with specializations in green building, residential additions, alterations and new construction. She is a licensed architect in New Jersey and Texas.

Frizzell’s previous chapter involvement includes serving as chair of the AIA-NJ Committee on the Environment (COTE), which works to advocate for quality environmental design practices. In 2011 and 2015, she received the AIA-NJ Distinguished Service Award. She was also named the AIA Jersey Shore Young Architect of the Year in 2003.

Frizzell received a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Austin and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
