With the goal of diversifying its loan portfolio by increasing commercial and industrial lending and specialized financing, Short Hills-based Investors Bank has appointed Mark Noto as the Head of Business Lending. Mr. Noto, who joined Investors in June 2012 as Senior Vice President in the commercial financing unit, will oversee senior lending officers and their teams in three primary geographic markets along with the Bank’s specialized loan operations. Mr. Noto’s appointment to this new position at the Bank is effective immediately and he will report to Investors’ Chief Lending Officer Richard Spengler.
In announcing Mr. Noto’s new position, Investors Bank President and CEO Kevin Cummings said, “While here at Investors, Mark has combined his exceptional skills as a business lender with proven leadership and mentoring capabilities. Not only is he a knowledgeable banker with the skills to develop practical financing solutions for the most complex business loans, he is an exceptional individual with a straightforward manner that earns clients’ trust and forms the foundation for long term relationships. Given his experience, enthusiasm and talent, Mark was the clear choice to lead our Business Lending unit.”
In the coming months, Mr. Noto and his leadership team will begin to align the Bank’s four specialized Business Lending departments – Healthcare, Asset Based Lending, CSV Insurance and Small Business/Community – to achieve maximum success while meeting the financing and commercial banking needs of Investors’ middle market and small business customers. Business Lending will encompass three primary geographic markets, each managed by a senior lending officer who resides in the area and knows the territory well.
Commenting on Mr. Noto’s appointment, Chief Lending Officer Richard Spengler said, “Since arriving, Mark has guided the transformation of our business lending units by recruiting and developing business lending teams in our New Jersey and New York markets. He broadened our range of financing options by introducing new specialized lending components, and the results have been excellent. Under his leadership, Business Lending continues to achieve significant growth year over year, for example by the end of the third quarter of 2014 the volume of C&I lending had reached a record $315 million compared to $158.6 million for same period during the previous year.”
During his three decades in commercial and business lending, Mr. Noto has held senior executive positions at some of America’s largest banks, among them Fleet Bank, Banco Popular North America, and National Westminster Bank. As the Head of Business Lending, he will have offices at Investors Bank’s headquarters in Short Hills and at its New York Regional office in Brooklyn.
Mr. Noto has served as board member for Neighborhood Housing of New York City, New York Industries for the Blind, and The Staten Island Zoo.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mr. Noto earned his B.A. in economics at Fordham University. He now lives with his family on Staten Island.
