Investors Bank Remains a Solid Growth Story

2015 and 2016 were outstanding years for Investors Bank; a couple of the best earnings years in the history of the company. The bank has been publicly recognized, too, with Forbes naming Investors the 20^th Best Bank in America out of the top 100 banks in the country.

When current President & CEO Kevin Cummings joined Investors Bank, it was a sleepy thrift that invested in securities and residential loans. Recognizing a need to change the strategic direction, he implemented a plan to transform the bank and balance sheet from a risk-averse thrift to a full-service commercial bank.

While not without its challenges, the bigger obstacle was earning “buy-in” from employees. To succeed, the bank had to redefine our corporate culture into one with a shared sense of a new mission, vision and core values.

The bank has made substantial investments in our employees’ personal and professional development under the leadership of a Chief Culture Officer. Earlier this year, we launched an employee development program called “EDGE” – Education, Development, Growth and Enrichment. Within the framework of EDGE, we have implemented training and development classes that are designed to improve both the leadership and job skills for employees within their current role.

EDGE, though, is just one element of the bank’s investment in our employees. Investors’ offers tuition reimbursement, flexible work arrangements – ranging from job sharing, flex time and remote working – as well as more traditional programs such as a pension, 401(k), and ESOP. Additionally, our health benefit plans were improved to make them more competitive and affordable. Plus, we have introduced a wellness initiative designed to get employees to commit to a healthy lifestyle.

Investors reputation grew as a company that cares.
