India-based Companies to Bring 1,250 Jobs to NJ

Gov. Phil Murphy announced that three India-based companies with operations in New Jersey will expand their existing presence here, adding roughly 1,250 jobs.

Murphy, in the midst of his seven-day trade mission to India, said the new jobs are a direct result of the trip and the face-to-face meetings he’s conducted while there.

Mumbai-based information technology firm Tata Consultancy Services will expand its workforce by approximately 700 jobs, bringing its New Jersey workforce to roughly 4,700 employees.

Larsen & Toubro will add approximately 400 jobs, boosting its Edison workforce to about 1,000 workers.

Birlasoft, part of the New Delhi-based conglomerate CK Birla Group, will add an additional 160 jobs.

“We’re thrilled that these companies have recognized New Jersey’s value and have chosen to expand their existing operations in our state,” said Governor Murphy. “These good, high-paying technology jobs are exactly the kind we want to continue to bring to New Jersey as we seek to reclaim our spot atop the innovation economy.”

The governor’s seven-day visit includes trips to six cities totaling more than 50 meetings and public events with businesses he’d like to see establish or expand their presence in New Jersey.

On Monday, the Governor also announced that Choose New Jersey is opening a permanent office in India in order to help develop relationships and attract new businesses to the state.
