Five statewide water-focused organizations are seeking entries for the New Jersey One Water Awards. The program honors initiatives that exemplify the principles of the One Water approach: sustainable, integrated and inclusive water resource management practices.
One Water is the belief that all water- stormwater, drinking water, wastewater – has value that can be unlocked to solve the state’s water challenges.
New Jersey’s water future and business environment are facing challenges like we have never seen before, from drought to flooding to contamination. Yet, the stewards of water—developers, farmers, businesses, manufacturers, and more — are forging transformative ‘One Water’ solutions which tackle these issues holistically. From using green stormwater techniques to mitigate flooding while beautifying neighborhoods; to integrating water stewardship into company strategy; to implementing innovative financing and partnership models, One Water approaches are sustaining the state’s economic security and providing multiple benefits.
Five statewide organizations have come together to sponsor the One Water Awards. They are: American Water Resources Association New Jersey section (AWRA-NJ); American Water Works Association New Jersey section (AWWA-NJ); Association of Environmental Authorities (AEA); Jersey Water Works (JWW); and the New Jersey Water Environment Association (NJWEA).
Together these groups will honor projects and programs that address water issues holistically and with other community priorities, reflect collaboration, innovation, and public education, and advance long-term sustainability by meeting multiple needs and generating multiple benefits.
Awards are given in three categories:
Public: Open to local, regional and state-level public entities in New Jersey including municipalities, counties, state agencies and utilities.
Private: Open to investor-owned water utilities and other private-sector firms and institutions.
Nonprofit/ academic: Open to nonprofit organizations and academic institutions.
