Bruner to Chair Rowan University Board of Trustees

The Rowan University Board of Trustees has elected Chad M. Bruner, of Mantua Township, as chairman.

Gov. Chris Christie appointed Bruner to the board in 2013 and reappointed him this year. As a trustee, Bruner has held several leadership positions, including chair of the Facilities Committee (2013-17), secretary (2013-14) and vice chairman (2015-16). In 2014, the board appointed him to serve on the inaugural Board of Governors for the Rowan University/Rutgers Camden Joint Board, which is focused on further developing education and health care in the City of Camden and building a health sciences corridor.

The 10-year county administrator for Gloucester County has held several management positions during his 25-year tenure there, including deputy human resources director, director of Health and Senior Services and deputy county administrator.

He serves on the board of the South Jersey Port Corporation, which oversees port-related operations in Camden, Salem and Gloucester counties. He also has held positions with many community service boards and commissions, including youth sports organizations and Mantua Township.

A Glassboro native, Bruner is a graduate of Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Pennsauken; Emory University (BBA), Atlanta; and Rowan University (MBA). He and his wife, Michelle, are parents of daughter Taylor, a student at Lafayette College, and son Cole, a student at Clearview Regional High School.

Bruner takes the helm of the board as Rowan works to expand its research presence, further develop health sciences and improve access to and affordability of a four-year college degree.

He succeeds South Jersey business leader and philanthropist Linda Rohrer, of Haddon Township, who served as chairman of the board for five years, leading the body during a period of unprecedented growth in enrollment, programs, facilities and partnerships.
