2 Gateway Center Launches Innovative Mobile ‘App’ for Businesses Seeking to Benefit from Economic Opportunity Act

C&K Properties, owners of 2 Gateway Center, Class A office tower in the heart of Newark’s Central Business District, unveiled today a groundbreaking mobile application designed to help real estate professionals and businesses owners streamline the process of calculating business incentives under New Jersey’s recently enacted Economic Opportunity Act of 2013.

The app, titled “2 Gateway” in the Apple Store, is the first of its kind related to the landmark incentives legislation, enables companies and real estate professionals to obtain a customized estimate of the cost savings under the Act’s new Grow NJ program for prospective tenants interested in relocating to 2 Gateway.

In seconds, using only rudimentary information about a prospective tenant’s staff size and space needs, users can quantify the benefits of the Act, which is widely regarded as the most significant piece of business incentive legislation in the New Jersey’s history.

“The logistics of such a sweeping piece of legislation are understandably daunting to even the most seasoned of real estate professionals,” said Ben Korman, Partner at C & K Properties. “We are eager to streamline and simplify the process to ensure that prospective businesses can realize their full benefits from this law, which are often lucrative enough to completely cover the cost of rent.”

The 2 Gateway Incentives Calculator is available for free download from the iTunes store for the for the iPad, and will soon be available for iPhone and Android platforms. The app automatically computes incentives allowable under the Act for 2 Gateway, which is afforded a variety of bonus incentives due to its unique urban location advantages. In total, these incentives can reach $85,000 to $150,000 per employee.

In 2013, C&K partnered with prominent business attorney Ted Zangari, a member of the powerhouse law firm Sills Cummis & Gross, who leads the building’s custom Economic Opportunity Act analysis service called the Gateway Incentives Concierge. Zangari, who serves on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce as well as the Newark Alliance, was instrumental in crafting incentives legislation on behalf of a broad-based business and labor coalition. As Incentives Concierge, he provides prospective tenants with a free consultation on how they can maximize the benefits of the legislation.

Tenants of 2 Gateway Center also have access to a wide array of on-site amenities including dark fiber web connectivity, a fitness center, banking facility, café, and conferencing center. For companies with technology-driven infrastructures, 2 Gateway’s unique connectivity has proven to be a strong draw. According to a recent report from leading IT advisory firm CS Technologies, “The building management has done an exceptional job of maintaining a technology friendly environment. The presence of major carriers in the building and the antenna coverage opportunities on the roof will make this a very attractive option for technology oriented tenants.”

Standing 18 stories tall along Market Street between McCarter Highway and Mulberry Street, 2 Gateway Center offers 3,000 square feet to 360,000 square feet of ready-to-occupy Class A office space. As part of Newark’s Gateway complex, the building is connected via a pedestrian skywalk directly to Newark Penn Station. The station offers access to NJ Transit, PATH and Amtrak lines, and is only 18 minutes from New York City and 10 minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport. Situated in the heart of the Downtown Arts District, 2 Gateway is only a short walk away from Newark’s Prudential Center, NJ Performing Arts Center, and all of the city’s exciting dining and entertainment options.
