Business Optimism Remains Positive Despite Uncertainty over Trade Policy

We recently completed our Q3 2018 Economic Outlook Survey and we’re pleased to share the results with you.

This quarter’s survey results suggest that most mid-sized companies remain optimistic about growth, although a small but growing minority of respondents believe the economy may begin to cool in the next six months.

  • 52% of Middle Market firms expect the economy to perform well over the next six months, compared to 22% who expect a slowdown
  • Labor demand remains strong, with a net 32% of respondents planning to hire new employees
  • Commercial Real Estate firms are optimistic about the broader economy, but less positive about the CRE industry itself, with only one third of respondents expecting industry conditions to improve
