Ramapo College of New Jersey is designated as New Jersey’s public liberal arts college and is located in Mahwah, NJ – in the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains on the New Jersey/New York border.

Established in 1969, Ramapo College grants bachelor’s degrees in the arts, business, humanities, social sciences and the sciences, as well as in professional studies, which include nursing and social work. The College also offers graduate degree programs in the areas of education, nursing, business, sustainability studies and liberal studies. The approximately 6,000 students can choose their concentration of study from over 37 undergraduate majors and seven graduate majors in one of five schools.

Ramapo College’s student-faculty ratio is 18:1 with an average class size of 23, allowing students to forge personal relationships with our committed faculty.

The College features an interdisciplinary academic structure in which there are four “pillars” of a Ramapo education – international, intercultural, interdisciplinary and experiential. They are reflected across the curriculum and in extracurricular activities including study abroad, student exchange programs, internships, co-ops and service learning initiatives. This commitment to experiential, hands-on learning coupled with the attentive teaching and mentoring of faculty empowers students to learn actively, attain the skills they will need to succeed both personally and professionally, and become lifelong learners.

Ramapo College’s commitment to excellence in and outside the classroom has received numerous accolades. U.S. News & World Report ranked Ramapo College as sixth in the Best Regional Universities North category for public institutions. In addition, Ramapo was listed in the February 2014 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine as among the 100 Best Values in Public Colleges, the ninth consecutive year Ramapo has been included. Ramapo College was also included as one of 226 institutions recommended by The Princeton Review in the Best in the Northeast section in the 2014 edition of 2014 Best Colleges: Region By Region. Ramapo is also recognized as a “Military Friendly School.” Ramapo College’s Anisfield School of Business is accredited by the The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-AACSB International. Less than five percent of business schools worldwide have earned that distinction.
