Profiles in Success: UnitedHealthcare

At UnitedHealthcare, we are committed to helping improve health outcomes and make the health system work better for all, especially for our 1.6 million members in New Jersey.

With nearly 6,500 employees across the state, our teams work tirelessly to meet the diverse health needs of our members and make healthcare more accessible to our local communities. In 2023, we provided more than $1.6 million in charitable giving throughout New Jersey and contributed 78,000 volunteer hours from local employees.

To support our mission and empower people to make informed and optimal health care choices, UnitedHealthcare also invests in innovative solutions to help our members navigate a complex health system and make quality care more affordable.

  • The Surest health plan eliminates deductibles and coinsurance and provides upfront cost and coverage information through an intuitive mobile app. Members have clear copays – not estimates – which may vary depending on the service and provider they choose. An independent study validated that the Surest health plan had $412 lower PMPY total cost of care in 2022 compared to traditional plans and offered sustained savings across ages, conditions, and comorbidities.1

  • UnitedHealthcare Benefit Ally® provides eligible members with financial support in the case of a covered unexpected medical event by combining supplemental health benefits with medical benefits. When an eligible medical event that qualifies under any of the supplemental health plans is identified, a benefit check is automatically distributed to be used however the member chooses.
  • The Level Funded health plan is designed to give employers an alternative solution to balance cost savings with benefits that employees want. Plan costs are based only on the medical and pharmacy claims of plan participants and may result in a potential year-end surplus refund. The plan provides stability through fixed monthly payments, stop loss protection from unexpected medical costs, wellness programs and more.
