ShopRite of South Brunswick – Mammoth in Monmouth Junction

The latest addition to the Saker ShopRites family is a state-of-the-art, 72,000-square-foot ShopRite supermarket at Heritage Plaza in Monmouth Junction. Since opening, it has been labeled a “supermarket destination” for the amenities and benefits customers from South Brunswick and surrounding areas experience on what otherwise might be a routine milk-and-eggs run. 

As a result of the $12-million project development, shoppers find a selection of more than a thousand freshly prepared fine foods; a 2,500-square-foot nutrition center with more than 3,000 items, including natural, organic, gluten free, and allergy friendly foods; a specialty Patisserie where hundreds of bakery items and French pastries and cakes are available; a wide assortment and selection of famous artisan breads; extensive selections of international food items; a large assortment of domestic and imported cheeses; a floral department with associates to help design custom bouquets on site; a full-service custom meat counter with trained butchers; and a fresh seafood counter. Customers also can take advantage of online ShopRite From Home pickup and delivery options. 

The new store is outfitted with the latest energy-saving and sustainable technologies in refrigeration, lighting and recycling – including glass doors on the dairy and freezer cases, LED and T-8 lighting, and a state-of-the-art Biodigester that reduces waste by biologically “digesting” organic material. 

In New Jersey, Saker operates 32 ShopRite supermarkets, 30 pharmacies, two liquor stores, and a Dearborn Market and Garden Center. Saker also owns four local commissaries that supply its stores with more than 1,000 freshly-made products daily. The fourth- and fifth-generation, family-owned company employs more than 9,000 associates. It is an integral member of and contributor to each community in which it operates, and is the largest member-owner of Wakefern Food Corp., the largest retailer-owned supermarket cooperative in the US. An estimated 300 full- and part-time associates will be employed at the South Brunswick location.
