Hilton Garden Inn Camden Waterfront – New Camden Accommodations

The Hilton Garden Inn Camden Waterfront is the first new hotel to be built in Camden in more than 50 years. Located on the Delaware River waterfront, the hotel is set to cater to the area’s growing business and tourism activities. The seven-story, 122,000-square-foot hotel offers 180 guestrooms, a 90-seat restaurant and lounge, multi-purpose meeting rooms, and a 3,300-square-foot event room, plus other hotel amenities.

The project is the newest component of Camden’s 2016 Waterfront Master Plan, which includes the American Water Works headquarters directly across from the hotel’s main entrance. The hotel’s development team worked with the masterplan developer on the project’s siting and design to maximize views of the Delaware River and Philadelphia skyline. Guests can enjoy in- and outdoor dining at the property’s Water Street Grill, with its firepits, cozy seating and views of the water and skyline.

The project was designed to meet LEED Silver requirements for energy efficiency and sustainability. During construction, the property upgraded to cutting-edge health and safety features and a specialized air filtration system was installed in every room to sanitize and enhance air quality.

The hotel anticipated employing between 35 and 45 employees, but due to the pandemic’s impact on the hospitality industry, it opened with less than 20 employees, many of them Camden residents. Nevertheless, the builder contributed $90,000 to the city for the administration of Camden Works, the city’s workforce development initiative, which placed more than 220 Camden residents in local jobs during the pandemic.

The Camden Waterfront has become a popular attraction as it is the permanent home to the Battleship New Jersey, America’s most decorated battleship; the interactive Adventure Aquarium; the indoor Stingray Beach Club, where visitors can touch and hand-feed stingrays; the 4.5-acre Camden Children’s Garden, where children and adults can explore the natural world and enjoy creative and imaginative horticultural experiences; and the BB&T Pavilion, a year-round amphitheater that features top entertainment and family events.
