Providing peace of mind to our customers and members has been at the heart of our mission for nearly 90 years. We’ve been there for them, through good and bad, facing it all together and guiding them to the care they need. COVID-19 reminded us all that things can change in the blink of an eye. As the state’s leading health insurer, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey was there – just like always – adapting and doing what it took to be there when our members needed us most. 

Since 1932, Horizon has responded to the needs of the people and communities we serve. When COVID-19 arrived, Horizon quickly made access to care safer and convenient through expanded telemedicine benefits and mental health supports. To make care more affordable, Horizon eliminated out-of-pocket costs for COVID-related testing and care and telemedicine visits. Horizon helped employers preserve coverage for workers and contributed $800,000 to local non-profits that kept our communities strong. When a shortage of protective equipment put front-line healthcare workers at risk, Horizon donated 500,000 N95 masks and 81,000 face shields while contributing $2 million to the Governor’s Pandemic Relief Fund.
