Mission and Resource Center

A Neptune Congregation

The Mission and Resource Center houses United Methodist Church of Greater New Jersey’s administrative offices for leadership and staff, but it is more than merely office space. It is a place of inspiration and learning for spiritual and community leaders throughout the state, region and world, and will enable the church to serve an even greater audience.

The 19,200-square-foot center includes 50 offices, 4,000 square feet of meeting rooms and a state-of-the-art video and sound studio. The first floor of the conference center features an area for worship services and meetings and an audio and video production studio, which is available for use by churches, community groups and affiliated organizations.

The center serves as the administrative headquarters for A Future with Hope, the non-profit organization started by the United Methodist Church to help people in the region recover from Superstorm Sandy. A Future with Hope has become a leader in Sandy recovery around the state and – to date – with help from more than 11,000 volunteers, has rebuilt 254 homes.

Further, the center hosts a satellite campus for Drew University. Drew Theological School held its first classes in the facility this spring and plans to expand course offerings in coming semesters. The UMC also has partnerships with Centenary College and the Pennington School.

Other UMC affiliations in New Jersey include: Camp YDP, which educates and cares for children, and CUMAC/Echo, an urban resource center that feeds 40,000 people annually in New Jersey, both in Paterson; The Neighborhood Center, which provides education, athletics and arts programs for youth, and Respond Inc., a day care and job training center, both in Camden; and United Methodist Communities (formerly United Methodist Homes), which includes 10 assisted and independent living facilities for New Jersey seniors.

During construction, the $4.95-million project employed more than 300 construction workers.
