Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Silberman College of Business is launching a new degree program – Master of Science in Digital Marketing. The program will be delivered asynchronously online, enabling busy professionals to access the curriculum from anywhere, at anytime, over the Web.
Students can complete the 30-34 credits required in two years while working a full-time job and without the need to commute to a campus location. The student-centered curriculum focuses on hands-on, project-oriented learning.
The dramatic rise in the use of digital and social platforms has altered, in a very fundamental way, how we live, shop, and conduct business transactions. Spending on digital marketing is rising, and many companies plan to increase their budgets for digital advertising. Marketing firms are seeking individuals who are strategists with expertise in digital and social media marketing skills to enable them to compete in an increasingly complex, technologically-driven marketplace. Digital engagement and marketing operations/technology are top areas for skill development. Specifically, digital marketing, social media, search engine optimization and analytics-related jobs are particularly in high demand. Salaries for these positions are also projected to grow, as the skills shortage becomes increasingly evident.
“The Masters in Digital Marketing curriculum is exciting in that it both gives our students a strong marketing foundation and the skills to become digital marketing professionals,” said Caroline Muñoz, Chair and Associate Professor of Marketing. “Our innovative curriculum should not only assist individuals wanting to transition into a new career area, but also seasoned marketers looking to advance in their careers.”
This program prepares students for a career in search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), analytics, email/database management, social media marketing, content marketing, mobile marketing and more. Students will graduate with a strong marketing anchor, having completed courses on marketing strategy, consumer behavior, marketing research and marketing communications. The coursework concludes with either a directed study, which can be shaped as an internship, or a thesis report. This is Silberman College’s first degree to be offered entirely online. Scholarships are also available to qualified candidates.
