Connell Foley Keeps Its Eye on the Future

In 2016, Connell Foley saw the significant expansion of key practice areas and offices as well as a change in firm leadership. At the beginning of the year, Philip F. McGovern Jr. began his term as the firm’s new managing partner, succeeding Michael X. McBride in this role. Mr. McGovern, who joined Connell Foley as a law clerk in 1983, has held several leadership positions at the firm, including serving on Connell Foley’s Strategic Planning Committee, Hiring Committee, Management Committee and Executive Committee.

The firm’s real estate and land use practice – one of the largest and most highly regarded in the state – was augmented early in the year when a number of seasoned attorneys joined the firm’s Jersey City office. In September, Connell Foley brought on nine highly accomplished attorneys to its Newark office, bolstering the firm’s practice in commercial litigation, real estate, insurance, bankruptcy and employment law. Most recently, the firm welcomed five fall associates, three of whom had previously served as summer associates with the firm.

“This has been a dynamic year for Connell Foley,” said Mr. McGovern. “We continue to grow through strategic measures, with the goal to always provide clients with counsel they can trust and respect. Next year may well prove to be even more exciting as we relocate our headquarters to a sophisticated new workplace within Roseland. This new space will allow the firm to operate efficiently and securely, while at the same time giving us the ability to offer more on-site services and events for our clients. We will be announcing more on our relocation in the near future.”
