Hamburg-based Web-Cote Industries, a hot melt adhesive coater specializing in glue products for the pest control industry, has announced that long time employee Susan Masciarelli has acquired the company from former owner James Cowen.
Cowen has been semi-retired for several years now, during which time Masciarelli, in her role as the vice president/general manager, has been running the company along with the operations manager, Andrew Kozdron. With this change in ownership, Masciarelli will now hold the title of president & CEO, while Kozdron has been promoted to the role of vice president of operations.
“I have always treated Web-Cote like it was my own, because it has long been my dream that someday it would mine,” said Masciarelli, who joined the company in 2008. “Many years ago, I told Jim that when he was ready to sell, I would appreciate the right of first refusal. When the opportunity finally came, we were able to make a deal that was mutually beneficial to each of us.”
With this purchase, Masciarelli joins a very small, but growing, group of women-owned manufacturers in the US. According to MNI, the nation’s oldest and largest compiler and publisher of industrial information, only 2% of all manufacturing companies in the country are women-owned. Internal data analysis of manufacturers specific to the pest control industry put woman owned manufacturers at just under 10%. “It gives me a deep sense of pride to be able to say that Web-Cote is a woman-owned business. I am excited for the opportunities this distinction will afford us,” said Masciarelli.”
Web-Cote Industries is the only exclusively private-label manufacturer of glue products in the pest control marketplace. It is best known in the industry for its top-performing glue boards for insect light traps, the type you see in restaurants, hospitals, and warehouses. Customers of Web-Cote include well known pest control operators and distributors in the professional pest control market, as well as wholesalers with their own nationally known retail brands, agricultural retailers, and government entities.
