Veteran NJM Leader Named Chief Underwriting Officer

NJM Insurance Group announced the promotion of Tracy A. McManimon to senior vice president & chief underwriting officer.

McManimon will lead NJM’s personal and commercial lines of insurance, which include the Garden State’s largest workers’ compensation book of business and the state’s second largest book of personal auto and property insurance. She will also be responsible for leading the Company’s strategic planning efforts as a member of NJM’s Executive Leadership Team.

McManimon joined NJM in 1986 as an underwriter. Throughout her career she has taken on increasing levels of responsibility through promotions to manager of policyholder services, director, assistant vice president and most recently to vice president in 2007. She is a longtime leader in Personal Lines and has been instrumental in NJM maintaining its reputation for outstanding consumer satisfaction, as recognized by leading national customer service publications. A resident of Pennington, she is a graduate of Fairfield University.

Also promoted to a top leadership position was Alastair C. Shore, who was named senior vice president & chief financial officer.  Shore, a resident of Princeton, joined NJM as chief financial officer in December 2016, with more than 25 years as a leader in the property casualty industry. Most recently he was executive vice president & chief financial officer for CUNA Mutual Insurance Group of Madison, Wisconsin, where he led the company’s core financial services. Prior to that, he served as CUNA’s chief risk officer and chief actuary. Shore is also a member of NJM’s Executive Leadership Team.

Rounding out the promotions are Carol L. Voorhees to vice president; Dr. Virginia Gaskel to medical director; Kate E. Ro, Esq., to director & assistant general counsel; Jessica A. Schlee-Gilbert, Esq., to director & assistant corporate counsel; Joseph Dotro, Alan G. Eife, John D. Rogers and Christopher Saveriano to director; and Lisa A. Dileo to assistant treasurer.

Voorhees, a resident of Lambertville, joined NJM in 1996 as a systems analyst. In 2006, she was promoted to manager of I.T. business relations, followed by a promotion to director in 2007. In 2011, Voorhees was promoted to assistant vice president. In her new role, she will oversee the Company’s Project Management Office. Voorhees has a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from Thomas Edison State University, and earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation in 2010.

Gaskel, a resident of Monroe, joined NJM in 2011 as a physician in Medical Services Administration. Prior to NJM, she was employed as a triage physician for HMO Blue Cross/Blue Shield and a primary care physician for Manser Medical Associates. Gaskel earned her B.A. from Rutgers University and her D.O. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Ro, a resident of New Hope, Pa., joined NJM in 2008 as a General Claims staff attorney. She was promoted to manager in 2014, and transferred to the Company’s Law and Regulation Department that same year. Prior to joining NJM, she gained valuable professional experience as an insurance defense litigator. Ro received her B.A. from Tiffin University and her J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law.

Schlee-Gilbert, a resident of Millstone Township,joined NJM in 2008 as an attorney in NJM’s Law and Regulation Department. She was promoted to manager in 2012. Before coming to NJM, she was a law clerk for the Superior Court of New Jersey and gained valuable insurance defense litigation experience at several New Jersey law firms.  Schlee-Gilbert is a graduate of Bucknell University and earned her J.D. from New York Law School.

Dotro, a resident of Millington, joined NJM as a workers’ compensation claims investigator in 1993, before accepting a role with the Company’s Special Investigations Unit in 1995. In 1996, he was promoted to workers’ compensation claims supervisor and to premium audit supervisor in 2004. In 2009, he was promoted to administrator of premium audit, followed by a promotion to premium audit manager the following year. In 2013, he became manager of workers’ compensation claims. Dotro earned a B.S. degree from Villanova University and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt designation.

Eife, a resident of Doylestown, Pa., joined NJM in 2016 as NJM’s first product development director. Prior to that, he served as vice president of product development for the Hanover Insurance Group, and as assistant vice president of corporate underwriting for the Philadelphia Insurance Companies. Earlier in his career, he gained professional experience at General Accident Insurance and Metropolitan Life Insurance Companies. Eife is a graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a B.A. degree.

Rogers, a resident of Long Branch, joined NJM’s Legislative Affairs Department in 2016. Before coming to NJM, Rogers worked for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey as government affairs director, the New Jersey Business & Industry Association as a lobbyist, and as chief counsel for the New Jersey General Assembly. Rogers earned his B.A. from Syracuse University and his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law.

Saveriano, a resident of Perkasie, Pa., joined NJM in 2005 as an I.T. project coordinator.  In 2006, he was promoted to business relationship leader followed by successive promotions in 2010 and 2011 to administrator and manager, respectively, in the Program Management Office. He holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from Virginia Tech University, and earned the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt designation in 2016.

Dileo, a resident of Columbus, joined NJM in 2016. Prior to that she gained valuable work experience at KPMG in its Philadelphia audit insurance practice, including more than 16 years serving both public and nonpublic property casualty and health insurance clients. Her experience also includes developing and delivering technical accounting and auditing training materials for various industries, including insurance.  She has a B.S. degree from Rutgers University and is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
