Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of Valley Health System and The Valley Hospital, recently presented Mahwah Mayor William C. Laforet with an architectural rendering of the planned Valley Center for Health and Wellness. Groundbreaking for the new facility is expected to take place this month.
Valley Health System announced plans for the development of the innovative health and wellness center in Mahwah earlier this year. The Valley Center for Health and Wellness will promote the next generation of healthcare delivery by focusing on improving the health for the community and keeping patients healthy and out of the hospital. Much more than a gym, the new facility will serve as a convenient “health hub” for the community.
The Valley Center for Health and Wellness will be a 75,906 square-foot building located at 1400 MacArthur Blvd in Mahwah. It will feature a variety of amenities including a fitness floor with a gymnasium; an aquatics area with a six-lane lap pool, leisure / play pool and a warm water therapy pool; a running track; an area with free weights and group exercise rooms. The remaining space will include a range of health and wellness services including health screenings, a diagnostics laboratory, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, occupational therapy, The Valley Hospital Sports Institute, urgent care / physician offices, community health programs and services, retail pharmacy, retail food, child care services for patients and clients, and conference space.
The Center will be an integrated healthcare facility staffed with qualified professionals that will incorporate medical oversight into the fitness floor for those individuals who do not want to join a traditional health club or for whom a health club may not be appropriate.
The overall facility is designed to be inviting to customers. Most of the services will be located on the first floor. The building is anticipated to open in the fall of 2017.Related Articles:
