United States Technologies Awarded Multiple Contracts to Modernize Doppler Weather Radar Systems

United States Technologies, Inc. (UST), a small privately owned business located out of Fair Lawn, has been awarded two contracts for design and manufacturing support to upgrade the WSR-88D NEXRAD (Next-Generation Weather Radar) Doppler weather radar systems operated by the National Weather Service (NWS) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the US Air Force (USAF).

The first contract, valued at $2,291,346, is for the design, development and manufacture of a single Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) to replace the current four card design and the design, development and manufacture of a Printed Wiring Board (PWB) to replace the current wire-wrapped backplane circuitry.

The second contract, valued at $1,966,000, is for the manufacture of a new component known as the WSR-88D Signal Processor Interface Panel (SPIP). This contracts calls for UST to manufacture a total of 220 Signal Processor Interface panels.
