Hackensack University Medical Center, Hackensack, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, and Ocean Medical Center, Brick, all members of Hackensack Meridian Health, have been recognized as three of the best hospitals for 2016-2017 in New Jersey and the New York metro area by U.S. News & World Report. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 27th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.
Hackensack University Medical Center is once again ranked #1 in New Jersey and #4 in the New York metro area. Additionally, HackensackUMC is nationally ranked in four specialties for providing superior care for the most complex clinical procedures, which include: Cardiology and Heart Surgery; Ear, Nose and Throat; Orthopedics; and Urology. HackensackUMC is also deemed a high-performing hospital among all nine common adult procedures and conditions.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center moved up to #4 in New Jersey, and is ranked #13 in the New York metro area. Jersey Shore is deemed a high-performing hospital in two specialties, Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Urology, a recognition reserved for the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation. Additionally, Jersey Shore is deemed high performing across eight common adult procedures and conditions.
New this year, Ocean Medical Center is ranked #8 in New Jersey and #18 in the New York metro area. In addition to Ocean’s Best Regional Hospital ranking, it is also recognized as a high-performing hospital in five common adult procedures and conditions.

Riverview Medical Center is deemed high performing in three common adult procedures and conditions, while HackensackUMC Mountainside and Raritan Bay Medical Center – Perth Amboy are each deemed high performing in two.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The Best Hospitals methodologies include: objective measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, infection rates, adequacy of nurse staffing and more.
