Tech Co-Working Space Opens at 2 Gateway Center in Newark

C&K Properties and =SPACE announced the opening of the latest inventive addition to 2 Gateway Center in Newark, Public SPACE, a partnership between C&K Properties and =SPACE. Open to the public in the heart of Newark’s Downtown Arts and Business district, the entrepreneurial-focused co-working space is a one-of-a-kind facility to discover and showcase the latest technological innovations in a collaborative and interactive setting.

Public SPACE will provide a center for digital creative, tech-oriented, and other entrepreneurial startups to learn about and engage each other through a variety of programs, including lectures, roundtables, live demonstrations and workshops. Public SPACE will also feature a unique ‘innovation wall,’ a display for product presentations and learning sessions, featuring upcoming programming and information spanning Newark’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.

While Public SPACE will require memberships for ongoing co-working activities, it will be open to the public for events, or simply for passers-by to stop in and learn about the latest in the Newark technology scene.

=SPACE Downtown, 2 Gateway’s original co-working facility, opened in 2016 in the concourse of the building, where approximately 10,000 commuters and local employees pass through each day. With its new platform, Public SPACE, the company is expanding its presence in the building, further honing an environment that fuses amenitized, technology-driven workspaces with a setting that is both affordable and easily accessible from public transportation.

To start the summer, programming will include a series of fireside chats, live podcast recordings and guest speakers designed to provide Newark’s tech community with additional skills, inspiration and new industry connections.

2 Gateway boasts unique connectivity – in both its transportation and technological infrastructures – with direct connection the Newark Penn Station via concourse and access to the city’s fiber spine. Recently, 2 Gateway became the first building to participate in the Newark Fiber program, allowing tenants to access commercially available fiber-optic internet, providing the region’s fastest internet speeds at the lowest cost. The property was also the first building in the state of New Jersey to achieve WiredScore’s Platinum certification, indicating superior choices when selecting an Internet service provider, full distribution of fiber connectivity throughout the building, best-in-class infrastructure to ensure protection against service interruptions, and administrative best practices to streamline tenants’ ability to get connected.
