Summit Health Opens Advanced Surgery Center in Voorhees

Summit Health has opened the Center for Advanced Surgical Excellence in Voorhees, located at 136 NJ Route 73 North, Suite C. The 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center (ASC) features three operating rooms and is Summit Health’s first ASC to focus particularly on urological-related diseases and procedures. It is co-located with Summit Health urology offices (Suites A & B), thereby allowing patients to conveniently receive care in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, kidney stones, genitourinary disease, and reproductive health.

“By upholding the highest standards of care Summit Health ASCs have earned an outstanding reputation of offering safety and high-quality patient-centered care without the inconvenience and higher cost of a hospital stay,” said Jack Cappitelli, MD, chief medical officer, New Jersey region. “Summit Health’s Center for Advanced Surgical Excellence will provide best-in-class surgical procedures for a wide range of urological diseases and conditions prevalent among today’s patient population.”

The center will be led by Medical Director Adam Thaler, DO, along with 35 urology specialists, anesthesiologists, and an experienced perioperative nursing team. The new outpatient facility is designed for patients who require surgical procedures that do not necessitate a stay in the hospital – allowing patients to go home on foot the same day.

“Summit Health is committed to providing patients access to the best and most appropriate level of care,” said Dr. Thaler. “This new facility greatly enhances our ability to deliver continuity of care to an even greater patient population as the demand for urological specialty care grows.”

According to the American Urological Association, the demand for urologists is likely to grow 45% by 2035 as older adults are projected to outnumber children for the first time in U.S. history.
