Stephen Dilts Named New Jersey Office Leader for HNTB

Stephen Dilts, vice president with HNTB Corporation, has been named New Jersey office leader. Dilts is based in the firm’s Parsippany office.

Dilts has more than 15 years of experience in the transportation field, with 10 years as a public official including service as commissioner and deputy commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, chairman of New Jersey Transit, chairman of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, chairman of the South Jersey Transportation Authority and deputy executive director of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

“Steve’s extensive public and private sector experience gives him unique perspectives on the state’s transportation needs,” said Steve McElligott, PE, HNTB’s Northeast Division president.  “New Jersey’s transportation network faces important challenges, and the insights and knowledge Steve has accumulated through his broad range of experience offers the opportunity to provide transportation agencies with new and innovative solutions.”

Dilts holds a master’s degree of governmental administration from the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government, as well as a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Boston University. He currently serves as president of the Intelligent Transportation Society of New Jersey, is an executive committee member of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey, and a member of the Regional Plan Association New Jersey Committee.

The firm’s three New Jersey offices located in Parsippany, Newark and Camden employ more than 150 multi-disciplinary transportation professionals.

In New Jersey, HNTB works with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority as the general engineering consultant, New Jersey Transit and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
