Purpose Meets Profit: How Non-Profit & For-Profit Organizations Can Work Together

On Tuesday, July 19, 2016, GIVE Marketing and Top Nonprofits will host a full-day seminar and workshop entitled “Purpose Meets Profit: How Non-Profit and For-Profit Organizations Can Work Together to Achieve Mutual Success and Social Impact.”  This interactive program will attract approximately 200 professionals from the for-profit and non-profit sectors in the tri-state area and is slated to take place at the International High School, in Paterson, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“We chose Paterson as the destination to host this event because it is a living, breathing example of how cross-sector partnerships can work to reinvent a community,” says Amy DeVita, COO of Top Nonprofits.  “To that end, International High School embodies the spirit of this program and is rated as one of the best high schools by U.S. News & World Report. It’s a state-of-the-art building that hosts a number of initiatives.

“We created ‘Purpose Meets Profit’ to introduce and physically link for-profit and non-profit professionals to one another and create the spark necessary to do well, by doing good,” notes Kim Keating, Founder and CEO of GIVE Marketing.  “Whether it’s turning a profit, raising donations, boosting awareness or enacting social change, cross-sector partnerships are more powerful in accomplishing these objectives than tackling them alone.”

“Cause marketing is a proven strategy in which businesses cannot only grow their profits, but attract and retain fabulous talent while making a positive impact on their communities,” says Amy.  “We are honored that New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) and ‘New Jersey Business Magazine’ will serve as our business sector and media partners and will help us to engage New Jersey’s greatest business leaders.”

“Purpose Meets Profit is inspired by the considerable work of Bruce Burtch, often called the Father of Cause Marketing,” says Amy.  Bruce is an advisor to the team and all attendees will receive a pdf version of his book “Win-Win for the Greater Good,” which includes a plethora of tips and insights gained over the course of decades of his work in the field.

Purpose Meets Profit kicks off with opening remarks given by the Mayor of Paterson, morning keynote speech from Michele Siekerka, President and CEO of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association.

There will be four panel discussions: “Building Mutually Beneficial Relationships for the Long Haul: ROR (Return on Relationship) and VOI (Value on Investment,” “The Case for Cause Marketing,” “Impact Investing in the Urban Community,” and “Rules of Engagement: Cultivating Successful For-Profit and Non-Profit Partnerships” and concurrent break out sessions which include a case study of how a special program created with Health & Wellness Partners and Oasis brings employee engagement to the business and a predictable rotation of volunteers to the nonprofit.
