New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) will host two training events as part of a series focusing on the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). FAR and DFARS are the rules for engaging in government contracting and subcontracting. Both events are free and will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Enterprise Development Center at NJIT, located at 211 Warren Street in Newark.
The first, on Oct. 13, will cover competitive negotiations. Presenter Michelle Currier, CPCM, CFCM, professor of Contract Management at the Defense Acquisition University, Middle Atlantic Region, will speak about how government and industry can best understand the rules of engagement, use appropriate types of exchanges, and have competitive discussions as they enter into contract negotiations.
The series continues on Oct. 20 with a look at the most important updates to both FAR and DFARS within the last year. Presenter William Weisberg, J.D., who has extensive experience practicing government contract law, will examine major changes to labor and employment law and new compliance requirements in a range of areas as they relate to FAR and DFARS.
Registration is required for each session of the series. Please note that remote access to the series will not be available. For more information and to register, visit http://njitptac.ecenterdirect.com/events.
