PRSA NJ Board Names New President-Elect

Jemia Kinsey Singleton, who founded a communications firm with vast Fortune 500 experience, has been named president-elect of the Public Relations Society of America New Jersey, the nonprofit chapter announced.

Singleton, who resides in Kenilworth, will serve as organization’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee chair before she is named president next year.

“We need to be different to fulfill our mission to help all public relations, corporate communications and digital marketing professionals in the state,” said PRSA NJ President Anjelica Sena, who has made diversity and inclusion a top priority in 2020. “Jemia will continue what she started last year as a new board member and welcome new members with diverse backgrounds and different voices. This initiative will reinforce PRSA NJ as the go-to professional development resource.”

Singleton plans to continue hosting educational events that emphasize the importance of diversity in PR. In addition, she plans to work with local colleges and explore mentorship opportunities for diverse PRSSA students.

“I am honored and excited to serve as president-elect for the PRSA NJ board this year and to help advance our diversity and inclusion efforts,” Singleton said. “In addition to preparing myself for the president’s role next year, I will continue to bring different perspectives to the table, which comes from embracing people with different backgrounds, ethnicities, insights, and experiences.”

Singleton brings more than 19 years of communications experience to Kinsey Communications, where she serves as president. She has worked on successful communications campaigns for large organizations such as Coca-Cola, Wal-Mart, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, Voya Financial and Elizabethtown Gas.

Singleton is co-chair of the Women of Purpose Leadership Team Calvary Baptist Church of Morristown. She serves on the board of the YWCA Union County and the Hope Chest Scholarship Foundation and she also volunteers with Visions and Pathways, Nourish NJ, and The Emmanuel Cancer Foundation.

Singleton, who moved to Central Jersey from Atlanta, is a former member of PRSA Atlanta, the Black Public Relations Society and the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists.

She earned her bachelor’s degree at Emory University.
