Peace in Action to Participate in Ramapo College’s Sexual Assault Awareness Symposium

Peace in Action, LLC has announced it is a sponsor of Ramapo College’s annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) Symposium Event, which will take place on April 3 from 2 to 4:15pm at the college’s Trustees Pavilion.

As a survivor of gender-based violence, Professor Scillieri, co-founder of Peace in Action, was astonished when her journey to a new life began and her advocacy started at a round table in Trenton with the NJ Coalition to End Domestic Violence. “I sat at a round table of women, all experts in gender-based violence and was amazed at the well-coordinated efforts in place to save someone like me. I was now on the other side and a part of this powerhouse of warriors and thought, not ‘they’ but ‘we’ are working around the clock to rescue you and do not lose hope because we are moving heaven and earth to get to you,” Scillieri recalls. “I still tear up when think about that day.”

The Ramapo College SAAM Symposium schedule includes a resource fair, a Proclamation by Dr. Cindy Jebb, remarks by Professor Donnalynn Scillieri, Alexis Ruhlen (Office of Violence Prevention) and New Milford Councilman Matthew Seymour. Vendor tables designed by Professor Scillieri’s Women in Contemporary Society class include information and resources about LGBTQ issues, domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and cyber sexual assault.
