Paul Helderman Joins Withum’s Morristown Office as Tax Services Partner

WithumSmith+Brown, PC (Withum) has announced the appointment of Paul Helderman to partner in the firm’s tax services practice where he will focus on federal corporate income tax issues. In his new role, Helderman is advising clients on income tax accrual matters, internal tax departmental controls, compliance, taxing authority audits and planning. He is based in Withum’s Morristown office.

The Bergen County resident, who has more than 30 years’ professional accounting experience, previously served as tax director of a Big-Four multinational firm’s Florham Park office.

Prior to joining Withum, Helderman served eight years with the federal tax practice of PwC LLP, where he was tax director. In this role, he was routinely consulted on financial statement income-tax-accrual audits related to multibillion dollar acquisitions and dispositions on behalf of notable SEC registrants. He also directed various tax compliance and consulting projects.

Helderman earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance and a master’s degree in taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University with honors. A licensed certified public accountant in New Jersey and New York, he also is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA).
