Palisades Medical Center Becomes Full Member of the Hackensack University Health Network

Hackensack University Health Network announced that Palisades Medical Center (North Bergen) has become a full member of the HackensackUHN, representing the Network’s fourth hospital in northern New Jersey. State and federal regulatory agencies have granted their approval, and Palisades Medical Center will now be known as HackensackUMC Palisades. It joins HackensackUMC (Hackensack), HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley (Westwood), and HackensackUMC Mountainside (Montclair).

“We are very excited for the future of HackensackUMC Palisades,” said Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer of HackensackUHN. “Our teams look forward to working together to continue a legacy of quality care that Palisades has established. As a HackensackUHN hospital, Palisades will be clinically integrated within the network; which is home to some of the best physicians and medical providers in the world. By sharing our resources, talent and facilities, we will strengthen the level of care provided to the communities while offering patients a better experience.”

Since 1978, Palisades has been providing quality care at its current River Road location — establishing itself as a trusted member of the community. Palisades’ patients are now part of one of the largest health systems in New Jersey; comprised of 1,717 hospital and nursing home beds, with more than 10,800 team members and 3,300 physicians.

“This represents a wonderful milestone for Palisades Medical Center and our communities as we become part of the premier healthcare system in New Jersey. As HackensackUMC Palisades, we will continue our commitment to quality, enhance access to exceptional clinical programs and secure our financial stability for years to come,” said Bruce J. Markowitz, president and chief executive officer of HackensackUMC Palisades.

He added, “Our medical staff, employees, volunteers and community partners can take great pride in their hard work and dedication.  Their efforts have enabled us to realize this accomplishment and we look forward to a new era of healthcare for the communities in Hudson and southern Bergen counties.”

This new development is the culmination of our very successful partnership. Since 2012, both HackensackUHN and Palisades have worked collaboratively to enhance services that include pediatric cardiology, neonatology and most recently – oncology.

In 2015, HackensackUMC Palisades opened a new, 57,000-square-foot outpatient facility overlooking the Hudson River that offers additional services of HackensackUMC’s John Theurer Cancer Center at Palisades. Patients receive the same world-class cancer care available at the John Theurer Cancer Center in a new location.
