NJTIA Selects Tourism Leadership Award Recipients

New Jersey Tourism Industry Association announced Anthony Catanoso, principal owner and president of the Steel Pier Associates, LLC, was the first recipient presented the Senator Jim Whelan Leadership Award.  The award was presented during the Dec. 5 “Celebrate Tourism” Lunch. The event brought together statewide tourism and hospitality professionals in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.

Catanoso was nominated for his tireless efforts to the overall growth and investment in Atlantic City as a destination. Always believing in the unlimited potential of area, he leads the way in reinvestment on a local level. His family is in their 28th season, during which time they have made considerable contributions to infrastructure and attractions to bring more visitors to the area. With their oversight, multi-million dollar projects revitalized the destroyed pier including; installing rides and new amusements, renovation of the historic carousel, and the recent construction of the Observation Wheel. Known as the turnaround specialist, Anthony and his team rise to each occasion to expand non-gaming attractions to enhance the Atlantic City experience.

Catanosa expressed his gratitude, ” We as a family and an organization are extremely honored and proud to receive the Jim Whelan Award.  Jim was a driving force in tourism in our region for years offering excellent leadership and counsel. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.  And we are most grateful to his wife Kathy for being on hand to celebrate with us.”
