NJMEP Pledges $250,000 in Value to NJ’s Manufacturing Community

The New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) has announced a pledge of $250,000 in value to New Jersey’s manufacturing community through its new “Year of Advocacy” program. The pledge will come through the form of various initiatives and programs that directly support New Jersey’s manufacturers.

NJMEP made the official announcement at its Open House on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 surrounded by members of the New Jersey manufacturing community. As part of the proclamation, attendees signed a “2014-2015 Year of Advocacy for NJ Manufacturing” banner.

“The manufacturing industry is critical to New Jersey’s economic health. We’re home to over 9,100 manufacturing establishments, and more than 247,000 workers are employed through manufacturing,” says Tony DeSantis, NJMEP’s Senior Vice President. “Our programs will help New Jersey’s manufacturers become more profitable and globally competitive, all while spreading awareness about the importance of U.S. manufacturing.”

NJMEP has worked with allies and expert business partners throughout the year to create new programs and offerings for NJ’s manufacturers at no charge.

One example is the recently announced Experience Manufacturingprogram, which is designed to address the shortage of skilled workers available in the Garden State NJMEP collects the open positions of New Jersey manufacturers and serves as a bridge to young adults who are looking to explore a career in the field. The program will connect manufacturers to top talent at no cost.

NJMEP will also offer complimentary training days and workshops in various topics critical to manufacturers such as Lean and ISO certifications. Industry symposiums and scheduled plant tours for students will also be available through the Year of Advocacy program. NJMEP will also provide process and facility assessments for New Jersey manufacturers at no cost. New initiatives will be announced throughout the year.

“Manufacturing is one of the biggest contributors of our state’s economy. We are looking to support the businesses that improve our economy and shape a positive perception of the industry,” adds DeSantis.
