NJ Businesses Light Up Green for Mental Health Month

Delta Dental of NJ, Johnson & Johnson, Hackensack Medical Center and even the New Jersey State House Dome Join More than 35 Others

More than 35 businesses, organizations, landmarks and agencies statewide are illuminating their buildings with the hue of green throughout May, symbolizing solidarity for mental health awareness. Sponsored jointly by the Mental Health Association in New Jersey (MHANJ) and Mental Health America, this widespread Mental Health Month initiative aims to underscore the importance of prioritizing mental well-being through educational endeavors and proactive mental health screenings.

According to the latest report (2023) by Mental Health America, in the U.S., 55%, or 28 million of adults with mental illness and 60% of youth with major depression receive no treatment.

“Mental health touches every aspect of our lives, and raising awareness serves us all. With one in five individuals experiencing a mental health condition annually and half of us at some point in our lives, the significance of Mental Health Month cannot be overstated,” remarked Carolyn Beauchamp, president, and CEO of MHANJ. “By casting light in green and commemorating Mental Health Month, our collective goal is to foster understanding, empower our communities, and diminish the stigma associated with mental health challenges.”

“We’ve recognized the correlation between oral health and mental health, taking the steps necessary to expand access to oral health care through our products and services. That includes the Delta Dental of New Jersey Foundation, which funds organizations that provide direct care to at-risk populations,” stated Dr. Keith Libou, chief clinical officer of Delta Dental of NJ and CT and a member of the board of trustees at Mental Health Association in NJ. “We are proud to be among the New Jersey business community supporting these efforts to raise awareness.”
