New President and VP at Supplier Diversity Development Council

The Supplier Diversity Development Council (SDDC), Trenton, recently welcomed President Michael Jones-Bey and Vice President Megan Carton-Poole, as the newest board leaders of the organization. The organization is dedicated to forging effective working relationships amongst minority, women, veteran and service-disabled veteran owned businesses (M/W/SDVBEs) and New Jersey public utilities and the Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) on matters relating to methods of reporting, measuring, and assessing the development of these relationships.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as president of this organization. In 2022, our mission is to build on our past successes and expand the impact that we are having as an organization,” said Jones-Bey. “I am lucky to serve on a board that includes a committed group of representatives from our utilities along with representatives from minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses, government agencies, and advocacy groups. I am confident that we will be able to support the governor’s priorities related to clean energy and promoting contract opportunities for diverse businesses and job growth in our region. Our goals are aligned, and we have a great plan to deliver results.”

Michael Jones-BeyJones-Bey currently serves as the director of corporate social responsibility for Con Edison and Orange and Rockland Utilities, and he manages their Supplier Diversity and Sustainability Program. He is responsible for leading the company’s efforts to incorporate sustainable supply chain business practices while increasing contract opportunities for minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) in ways that strategically support the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and promoting economic growth within the communities it serves. The SDDC’s commitment to its mission will enhance supplier diversity amongst New Jersey companies, resulting in the development of a strong economy and a productive environment for the growth of business throughout the state.

“I was elected as the vice president of the SDDC board to help support the best course of action, in order to affect change for diverse firms,” said Carton-Poole. “By serving on this Board, I will continue to support the SDDC mission to create opportunities for minority, women, veteran, and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses in the utility market sector within the State of New Jersey,” Carton-Poole added. The reorganization of our Council will be a key success factor in the work we do, having great people in positions to make a change for the better across New Jersey,” Carton-Poole concluded.

Megan Carton-PooleCarton-Poole currently holds the position of Director of Marketing for Ferreira Construction. She is responsible for Ferreira’s marketing department as well as the marketing for its nine subsidiary/affiliate companies. Megan capitalizes on the importance of branding by utilizing marketing techniques, strategies and social media while expanding Ferreira’s customer base through key advertising techniques. She also functions as a facilitator/liaison to the staff, providing guidance in the matters of M/W/DBE compliance and supplier diversity.
