Murphy & Choose New Jersey Announce Opening of the New Jersey India Center

Event Kicks Off Governor Murphy's Seven-Day, Six-City Economic Development Mission to India; New India Office Demonstrates State's Commitment to Strengthen Economic Ties, Promote Business Investments in New Jersey

Gov. Phil Murphy, alongside Choose New Jersey, announced the opening of the New Jersey India Center in Gurugram, India. The opening of the New Jersey India Center kicks off Governor Murphy’s seven-day, six-city economic mission trip to India. Governor Murphy is the first Governor in New Jersey history to visit India on official business.

“Today’s historic announcement charts a new course and effort to increase economic opportunities and build relationships between New Jersey and India,” said Governor Murphy. “Expanding operations into India will further Choose New Jersey’s goal to attract global businesses to New Jersey. With this new office, we will be able to bring our state’s message of economic prosperity directly to India.”

India is one of New Jersey’s largest trade and investment partners, and Indian-Americans represent the largest group of foreign-born residents in New Jersey. The New Jersey India Center will cultivate international investment opportunities in the Garden State and deepen cultural and educational ties between New Jersey and India.

“New Jersey has long had a talented workforce with Indian roots, and bridging this gap to help top manufacturers, pharmaceuticals and start-up Indian companies grow in the United States is an incredibly beneficial venture for all,” said Jose Lozano, president & CEO of Choose New Jersey. “This historic office opening marks another success from our organization in creating a foothold for New Jersey as an economic leader on the global stage. We are pleased to have Mr. Tarun Gupta, CEO and Managing Partner of T&A Consulting, and his team of experts on Indian investment, serve as our liaison to the Indian business community by touting the value of doing business in New Jersey.”

T&A Consulting will represent New Jersey at trade conferences and business meetings, while undertaking lead generation and public relations/social media efforts. The office will serve as a one-stop shop, providing resources to Indian companies seeking opportunities in New Jersey. T&A Consulting will serve to cultivate and strengthen New Jersey’s message to the Indian community and abroad.

“It is an honor to serve as the first official New Jersey representative to India,” said Gupta. “I want to thank Governor Murphy for emphasizing the importance of the work we will be doing on New Jersey’s behalf in India. As part of the Choose New Jersey team, I look forward to working with Indian businesses looking to build operations in the U.S. and help them better understand the economic opportunities in New Jersey.”

Gupta is the managing partner of T&A Consulting, with nearly two decades of experience in the field of Corporate & Investment Banking and Consulting. Gupta has a proven track record in promoting bilateral trade and investment between India and various countries across different continents. He leads a team of experienced professionals who have assisted over 300 overseas companies from more than 20 countries, looking to do business in India. Gupta previously served as the head of the International Business Division, at HSBC Bank Plc, United Kingdom and Regional Head of Corporate Banking for HSBC in India, running a wide portfolio of corporate customers operating in diverse industries.
