Mental Health Association to Hold 23rd Evening of Excellence

The Mental Health Association in New Jersey, an affiliate of Mental Health America, announced its 23rd Annual Evening of Excellence to be held on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Park Savoy Estate in Florham Park. The Association will be honoring four individuals and one organization for bringing hope, innovative approaches and pioneering developments that help improve the lives of New Jersey residents living with mental health and/or substance use conditions and their family members.

The Evening’s Distinguished Honorees include:

Edward C. Dobleman, director, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT-NJ) Center of Excellence, retired chief of police

Frank A. Ghinassi, PhD, ABPP, president and CEO of Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, senior vice president of behavioral health and addictions service line for RWJBarnabas Health

Donald J. Parker, LCSW, president, behavioral health care transformation services for Hackensack Meridian Health

Purple Swans Corporation, a non-profit NJ dance troupe dedicated to integrating Chinese and American performing arts, while using their platform to make a positive impact on communities.

Keynote Speaker and Honoree:

Emily Grossman, MA CPRP, NYCPS-P, peer life coach, keynote speaker, Author of Unlocked: From Psych Hospital to Higher Self

Carolyn Beauchamp, president and CEO of the Mental Health Association stated, “Our honorees are extremely deserving of recognition for their creativity and dedication to improving behavioral health and wellness in New Jersey. We are pleased to highlight their spectacular accomplishments and look forward to continuing our own work, striving for the best possible mental health for children and adults in our state.”

Emily Grossman, MA CPRP, NYCPS-P, the guest speaker for the Evening of Excellence, will share the story of her own journey to wellness, referenced in her new book, Unlocked: From Psych Hospital to Higher Self.

The 23rd Annual Evening of Excellence will be hosted by Lisa Marie Falbo, an Emmy-nominated television host, executive producer, and author. Currently, Falbo hosts “Your New Jersey” on MeTV-WJLP, which features community leaders throughout the Garden State.

The Evening of Excellence is an important fundraiser for the Mental Health Association in New Jersey. Proceeds from the event will support our advocacy efforts in behavioral health.
