Maya Curry Appointed Newark Regional Business Partnership Vice President

Newark Regional Business Partnership (NRBP) Board Chair Calvin R. Ledford, Jr. announced that Maya Curry has been named vice president, Communications and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion effective immediately.

“The board of directors recognizes Maya’s increasing contributions to NRBP’s success, appreciates her talents and heartily endorses her promotion,” said Ledford who is president of the PSEG Foundation and director of PSEG Corporate Social Responsibility. “The pandemic has reinforced the importance of timely and useful information and her performance under challenging circumstances has been outstanding.”

“Maya’s enthusiasm for her home city and its residents is reflected in her diligent work on behalf of our members,” said NRBP CEO Chip Hallock. “In addition to her most essential communications responsibilities, she has become adept at facilitating member connections while assuming increased programming duties.”

NRBP COO Barbara Kauffman said “Maya was instrumental in beginning our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative nearly four years ago. Her experience, approach and perspective have been invaluable to our organization and I know our members will continue to benefit from her insight and creativity.”

A Newarker, Maya joined NRBP in 2013 on a part-time basis as a communications assistant after earning her degree at Montclair State University. She became full-time director of communications in 2017.

“I am excited to continue contributing to our members’ success and promoting the value of and need for DEI in the workplace and the community at-large,” said the newly named vice president. “I look forward to bringing enhanced programs and opportunities to further NRBP’s mission to connect business for a Greater Newark.”
