Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno Celebrates Grand Opening of NBCUniversal’s Technology Center

Celebrating the company’s decision to expand their media operations in New Jersey, Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno joined executives from NBCUniversal to mark the opening of a new technology center in Englewood Cliffs.

“Technology drives innovation which is in the very DNA of the Garden State,” said Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno. “Our Administration continues to create a business climate where companies large and small want to – and do – choose to call New Jersey home. We congratulate NBCUniversal on their new state-of-the-art technology center as they expand and grow in our State. Furthermore, I look forward to seeing the new technology they will develop here in the Garden State that will benefit our citizens and the broader media and entertainment industry.”

NBCUniversal invested $17 million renovating a 63,000-square-foot-facillity that hosts its new Media Labs operation and the company’s core technology team.  Media Labs is an organization within NBCUniversal that is dedicated to working with academic research groups, start-up companies, and the global venture community to accelerate technology innovations and to help develop new business models for the company’s content delivery businesses. Media Labs is staffed with top technology professionals from the worlds of application strategy, mobile development, virtualization, video, and consumer-experience technologies.

The Technology Center features innovative new technologies including a “technology show lab,” “virtual hallways,” and a “smart bar” to help foster an environment of collaboration and creativity. The facility’s currently hosts more than 300 employees from NBCUniversal’s core tech and engineering teams that develop and support the creation of new technologies and services.

NBCUniversal’s  Englewood Cliffs location is also home to CNBC, NBCUniversal’s cable-TV business news channel.
