Lowenstein Sandler Reports 25K+ Hours of Pro Bono Work

The Roseland-based law firm of Lowenstein Sandler has released its 2022 Pro Bono Report, which details the firm’s pro bono efforts last year through the Lowenstein Center for the Public Interest.

The law firm served more than 600 pro bono clients and dedicated more than 25,000 hours to pro bono work, an over 8% increase from the previous year. On average, each Lowenstein lawyer spent 65 hours on pro bono matters in 2022. Over the past 26 years, Lowenstein lawyers and staff have spent more than half a million hours on pro bono causes.

Highlights of the firm’s 2022 pro bono work include:

• Representing Afghan refugees in their immigration proceedings so that they can remain safely in the United States
• Helping doctors and other health professionals, those who assist patients through funding and other practical support, patients, and employers understand the legal protections and risks associated with reproductive health care and coverage in the post-Roe period
• Drafting life-planning documents for veterans so that they can stay in control of their health care decisions even if they later lose the ability to speak for themselves
• Assisting more than 190 nonprofits with various transactional legal needs, enabling them to provide essential services in their communities
• Reducing the prison sentence and securing the release of a person who committed a crime when he was a young man, rehabilitated himself during his prison term, and qualified for a “second look” under new legislation.
