Linde and the Thanksgiving Day Parade

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year is the parade’s 90th, and Linde’s 22nd consecutive year providing all the helium to inflate the balloons.

Linde (whose American headquarters is in Bridgewater) provides all 300,000 cubic feet of helium used in the parade (enough to fill half a million Mylar party balloons).

Linde arrives in Manhattan the night before Thanksgiving and stays 24 hours to inflate the balloons.

How many balloons?
There may be approximately some 60 balloons, plus some smaller ones.

Where are they blown up? At what time?
On the day before the Parade, Linde and Macy’s staff assemble near the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan where workers begin inflating the balloons using a gas filling apparatus Linde has customized for the Macy’s Day Parade. Early Thanksgiving morning, the balloons are topped off with helium and poised for the Parade.

How many Linde trucks?
There will be some 4 Linde trucks onsite.

Do Linde employees volunteer in other parts of the parade?
There are some Linde Employees who are a part of the Parade which is all on a volunteer basis

How many employees are involved?
Some 16 Linde personnel are involved in the Inflation

Is the company onsite for the entire parade?                                                                                                           There are some  Linde employees onsite during the entire parade  just in case a balloon needs to be re-inflated.
