Lerner David Welcomes Brothers as New Partners

Scott and Christian Samay join Westfield-based Lerner David Littenberg Krumholz & Mentlik LLP as partners.  The Samay brothers have been separately litigating intellectual property and complex commercial cases across the country at top-tier NYC law firms for more than two decades.  Both are nationally recognized trial lawyers with a long history of successes.  Their clients are Fortune 500 stalwarts and growing companies at the forefront of their industries.  After independently establishing themselves as winning first-chair trial lawyers and trusted advisors to their respective clients, these brothers have teamed up to consolidate their practices at Lerner David in their home state of New Jersey.  The addition of this duo enhances Lerner David’s thriving intellectual property litigation practice, and adds significant expertise before the International Trade Commission.

IAM Patent 1000 labelled Scott “a real-deal, quick on his feet courtroom trial lawyer—a pleasure to work with and impressive to watch.”  Scott has litigated jury and bench cases involving a wide range of technologies and products including computers, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer products and electronics;   and he has obtained favorable rulings for his clients in high-stakes (sometimes billion-dollar) cases.

A former General Counsel at a tech company, Christian is experienced in both leading and managing complex litigations and commercial matters.  He has successfully first-chaired jury, bench and administrative trials in courts across the country, including at the ITC.  Christian represents clients covering a multitude of industries from consumer products to complex industrial products and technologies.  Regularly recognized for his courtroom expertise, Christian was recently appointed Special Counsel by the former Attorney General and Governor of New Jersey to defend statewide allegations of infringement.

Both Scott and Christian received their undergraduate B.A. degrees from Bucknell University.  Scott went on to obtain an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, and worked as an executive at UPS before attending Columbia Law School, where he was a Stone Scholar, the recipient of the Dawson award for excellence in advocacy, and a senior editor of the Columbia Law Review.  After Bucknell, Christian studied at La Sorbonne where he received a Certificat de Langue Française before attending Seton Hall University School of Law.
