Ballard Spahr has the best litigation department among the largest law firms in New Jersey, according to the New Jersey Law Journal in its 2016 Litigation Department of the Year competition.
Each year, the New Jersey Law Journal’s editorial staff considers the quality of firms’ work in litigation matters primarily handled by New Jersey-based lawyers in jurisdictions within as well as outside the state. The litigation practice in Ballard Spahr’s New Jersey office in Cherry Hill was selected as overall winner in the Large Firm category based on outstanding results achieved on behalf of clients in cases of import throughout the state, region, and nation.
Ballard Spahr’s New Jersey litigators handle virtually every type of civil litigation — from defending single plaintiff consumer actions to nationwide class actions and appeals in state and federal courts — encompassing the full range of practice areas including commercial litigation, products liability, labor and employment, and environmental matters.
“Our New Jersey office has long been home to an incredibly talented and dedicated group of litigators, including both nationally known veterans and younger attorneys,” firm Chair Mark Stewart said. “Their skill and commitment in finding the best solution for the client is second to none.”
The top statewide ranking reflects the firm’s focus on achieving success as the client defines it — whether through pre-trial motion practice, trial victory or appeals, creative and advantageous settlement, or minimizing a client’s expense and reputational risk by steering litigation into arbitration or other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the terrific lawyers in the New Jersey office and the results we have achieved for clients,” said John B. Kearney, New Jersey office Managing Partner and one of the state’s preeminent litigators. “We put ourselves in our clients’ shoes and work with them to develop and implement an approach that achieves the best results based on clients’ expectations, goals, and business objectives. It’s an approach that requires a full understanding of the client and the client’s business, built largely through relationships and trust.”
Ballard Spahr’s New Jersey litigation practice, along with winners in the other categories, will be profiled in a New Jersey Law Journal supplement scheduled for publication on November 14, 2016, and will be honored at an event on November 16 at The Newark Club in Newark.
