Kimmerle Group / Kimmerle Newman Architects (KG/KNA) celebrated its 35th year of practice this year while reopening their NYC-area office, formerly in Chelsea, now located In Hoboken. “Our work in Hudson County, Manhattan and Brooklyn is building, it is time to reassert our already active presence in the area,” says George Kimmerle, founder and principal of the firm.
“Our new office for KG/KNA and KG Urban Studio (our planning and urban design offering) is located on the ground floor of the historic Hoboken Land Building and has immediate access to Newark Street, the waterfront/outdoor space, and the former trolley line to the ferry docks (now landscaped) at the Hoboken terminal, is less than 50 steps away,” says Bill Kimmerle, a firm principal.
“We all know that when the rebound happens, it is happening first along the Gold Coast of Hoboken and Jersey City,” says Patrick Luzzi, principal of KG Real Estate Services. “Always looking forward, we want our commercial clients to know that we are here and near, to help them be a part of that resurgence,” he adds.
“Located literally steps from the NJ Transit, PATH and Hudson Light Rail tracks, we are but 10 minutes away from almost every significant holding at the waterfront,” says Paul Newman, principal of KNA. “Active at 100 and 200 River Street in Hoboken right now, and with projects underway at 101 and 300 Hudson in Jersey City, our Hoboken office means we are present and available for the next wave,” Newman adds.
“We are also engaged with CBRE, CW, JLL, CRESA and others, for almost every opportunity in the Hudson County market at this time,” says Luzzi. “Our work in the area doesn’t stop there, as we engage in a new initiative toward private schools in the county, replicating advances in library science and media learning, a follow-up to a very successful roll out at Villa Walsh Academy in Morristown last fall,” he adds.
Completed work in the area since the end of the pandemic includes a 155,000 RSF project at Penn Plaza for the SPARC Group, healthcare projects for both Holy Name Hospital and HMH in Hoboken, in addition to more than a dozen tenant occupancies along the waterfront for Birch, SJP and Vision Equities, to name some.
“Our planning and urban design team, KG Urban Studio, is also doing a tremendous amount of work in the area of building repositioning that includes office and warehouse conversions to residential, building refits and upgrades to Class A status, as well as significant land development projects that reposition unproductive office and industrial sites, to address Mt. Laurel Round Three and Four redevelopments, e.g. mixed-use projects consisting of hundreds of rental and townhouse units per location,” says George Kimmerle.
KG/KNA also has offices in Harding Twp. (Morristown), NJ and Stonington, CT – “We truly have our arms around the Tri-state area, and are active in NY, NJ and CT, with projects in Pennsylvania as well, including a headquarters location in Philadelphia for the national orthopedic group Rothman, a 150,000 SF requirement with CRESA,” says Bill Kimmerle. “KG/KNA also services similar national practice groups like Rothman and Regional Cancer Care Associates (RCAA) for roll outs across the country,” he adds.
